IVR (Interventional Radiology)

A fluoroscopic imager for angiography is equipped with a dedicated CT scanner, three-dimensional imaging by rotating DSA (Digital Subtraction Angiography) imaging, together with CT-like imaging to be provided by C-arm CT and is ready for high-precision diagnosis, treatment and research. Today, Hokkaido University Hospital is top ranked in the nation in the number of IVR cases, which means that we have a great deal of clinical experience and are also actively working on clinical research. We have participated in both Japanese and international multi-institutional joint research projects, contributing to IVR evidence building. Our basic research includes interventional use of embolic materials in various arterial embolization techniques, mechanisms of difficult catheterization, development of new metal markers for radiotherapy and development of IVR assisting software.
